“Variety… Originality… Adventure… Heart-hitting…
Long ago, the world was filled with a variety of adventurous and original stories that touched our hearts and stayed with us forever. Then, everything changed when unoriginality and monotonous stories attacked. Only the ‘Creatives’, masters of blending genres and serious themes with fun creative storylines, could stop the unoriginality. But when the world needed them most, they vanished. Several years have passed and now the next generation of creatives have finally emerged, The New Dawn Creatives. Although, they have a lot of potential, they have a long way to go before they save anyone. But I truly believe that New Dawn Creatives can save the world…”
Well, what did you guys think? Cheesy? Cringy? Creative maybe? Well, all three of those have certainly been used to describe me at one time or another, and before you get to know about New Dawn Creatives, I want to introduce you to me,
the ambitious mastermind behind this whole thing.
Let’s go ahead and start from the beginning. I fell from the sky in a space pod 22 years ago and landed in Houston, Texas. I spent only a little while there before my earth parents whisked me off on a journey around the world. As top international spies, they took me to Paris, Kenya, London and eventually Nigeria where we ended up settling for a while. Growing up as an immigrant Alien son of international superspies who moved around a lot made friends a rare commodity for me, so I ended up making some different kinds of friends. My best friend as a kid was probably ‘Disney movies’. Back in my day (yes, I think I’m old enough to say that), we didn’t have unlimited access to every show, movie, series etc., so I had to treasure the few VCR tapes I had, which just so happened to be classic Disney movies like ‘The Jungle Book’ and ‘The Lion King’ (my all time favorite movie, don’t judge me). Disney might have been my best friend, but I was also really close with Cartoon Network, Toonami, Nickelodeon and a slew of other animated TV shows and movies.
Then it happened.
After re-watching ‘The Lion King’ for the 47,089th time, a strange thing occurred inside me. For the first time, instead of desiring to watch it again, I desired to create my own movie, my own story. At the ripe old age of 7, I wrote my first ‘short story’ and made the bold proclamation that I wanted to be a film maker.
That was the first sign.
I would spend a large chunk of my teen years following this passion and I wrote a lot of stories, scripts and came up with a bunch of ideas that I wanted to pursue one day. Some of those ideas where ‘small’ and ‘realistic’ (like starting a mini soccer tournament in my preppy little private school), while others where kind of far fetched (like starting my own comic book company, *more on that later). Even after I finally found real human friends in my teen years, I found another interesting friend that would turn out to be a big inspiration for me, Anime. Or to be more precise, Naruto (arguably my favorite series ever, it’s a toss up between that and ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender). Besides it’s exhilarating action and suspenseful adventure storyline, I fell in love with the series because it was such a long-running series that I literally grew up with it. The show lasted almost 2 decades and I hopped on the bandwagon about halfway through. When the show finally ended a couple of years ago, it was such a huge ‘woah’ moment because it was then I realized just how much the series had grown on me over the years. I had another epiphany, I didn’t just want to create great original stories that were critically acclaimed and perfectly written (nothing wrong with that obviously), I wanted to create great original stories that were critically acclaimed, perfectly written and long-running so the characters and stories literally grow up with my audience. That along with me getting into comics and manga’s inspired me to start a little comic book series in High school (although it didn’t last long).
That was the second sign of my true hidden identity.
I ended up returning to Houston about 7 years ago and then went to Baylor to study Film and Digital Media. After finishing school, I saw the great work being done by Marvel in the MCU and that inspired me to try and find my voice in writing super-human, hyper-imaginative, fantasy-like stories. After graduating, I seriously considered chasing a career in Hollywood perhaps being a writer for a Marvel movie or something (talk about a sweet gig), but it just didn’t feel like me. I didn’t just want to make a series or movie about someone else’s brain child, I wanted to write my own stories and share my creations with the world.
That was my 3rd and Final sign.
I discovered that I was a reincarnated ‘Creative’! And it was my job to save the world from watching/reading stories about the same characters we’ve been reading about or watching for decades (see: all the remakes and sequels in your local movie theater).
Okay, all narcissistic jokes(?) aside, that’s the inspiration and motivation behind starting…
I want to write stories that’ll go on for years to come and will spread across multiple mediums the same way Marvel is doing right now.
New Dawn Creatives is an international company based in both Texas and Nigeria. We’re a comic book company that want to take advantage of this internet age to reach as many people as possible. We don’t want a market in just North America, or in just Nigeria or in just any one continent. We want to reach the entire world and get as many people from all over following our stories that’ll be serialized monthly. We do plan on getting in actual comic book stores and printing out physical Issues that we’ll ship to our fans in the near future.
Our flagship Series, ‘Drifters’ is an action/adventure series we plan to serialize for a long, long time. We want it to have the feel of a classic manga-style series with an emphasis on not just the martial arts inspired action but also on the characters as the develop in every way possible (look forward to a little more romance and drama than typically seen in battle manga’s too). While ‘Drifters’ is our flagship series we have plans to release several other titles over the next year or so. A couple of the series we have planned next year include ‘The White Shadow’ and ‘Jon King’ (a big project with connecting universes centered around two super-powered African-American brothers living two separate and distant lives) and Virus (a series with a female lead centered around some of the issues ‘Superwomen’ face living in a world of ‘Supermen’). Stay plugged in on our forums and website to get latest updates on these series!
Now that you’ve read a little about our vision and goals, I first want to thank you for reading all the way to this point, I know it’s not your typical ‘About Us’ page for a company, but it’s us. As you know, every vision or idea needs supporters to succeed and if you’ve read this and feel like you could be a fan of ours we’d appreciate all the support you can give! Not necessarily financially either, but liking and following us on our Social Media handles, joining our community forum, reviewing our Issues, etc. We’d appreciate it all. And of course, if you want to help us out financially also, we’d love that too. We’ve begun own pseudo-kickstarter campaign for our next volume and if you’d like to give us any donations or help fund our next volume, follow the link below. We appreciate you in advance.
